Ways to Give in East this Holiday Season

HOLIDAY CHARITABLE OPPORTUNITIES. Here's a small sampling of ways to make a difference this holiday season.

Toys For Tots. The Public Safety Department has a collection box in their lobby until Friday, December 17th for residents to donate a new, unwrapped toy, to be given out to children this holiday season. The lobby is open 8:00 am until 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Food Pantry Collection. Last year, City employees arranged for a drop-off bin to be placed at the Community Center in conjunction with a yearly fundraising competiton among the various city department. The bin was placed just inside the doors of the library and notices placed in the e-newsletter to allow residents to join in. The response was so great, employees decided to leave the barrel in place until donations slacked off. Happily, they never did, and the collection barrel remains there. It has been emptied six times this year with a total of over 830 lbs of food donated to Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank. Residents are invited to participate again this year with donations of non-perishable food items. Donations can be made anytime the Community Center building is open. If the library is closed, donations can be left outside their interior entrance.
