Christmas tree disposal sites in East Metro

It’s that time of year when many people are looking for places to dispose their real Christmas trees and wreaths.  Each community handles tree and wreath disposal in its own way.

Ada Township:  Residents can drop off their trees and wreaths at the back parking lot of Ada Township Park from now until January 14.  Hours:  7:30am – 8pm.  The trees will be recycled into wood chips, while the wire from the wreaths will be used to make new wreaths.

Cascade Township: Residents should bring their trees and wreaths to the Buttrick Fire station parking lot from now until January 6.  The fire station is located at Buttrick Avenue and 30th Street.

East Grand Rapids:  Residents should place their Christmas trees and wreaths at the curb beginning January 7 The pick-up period lasts for two weeks.  Streets and Utilities crews will pick them up.

Grand Rapids Township:  Residents should contact their private waste haulers.

All of these locations require that residents remove any lights, decorations, ribbons or other items that could interfere with a wood chipper.
