Wolverine Resolution Run to take place Friday

The 27th Annual Wolverine Resolution Run is being held Friday, December 31, at 3:30 pm. The race is a 4 mile walk/run and will benefit the Pediatric Oncology Resource Team (P.O.R.T.) at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.

Grand Rapids Christian High School basketball team to host 'Purple Game' for cancer research

GRAND RAPIDS - Boys' and girls' varsity teams from Grand Rapids Christian High School and East Grand Rapids High School will compete this Friday while raising money and awareness for cancer. This family-friendly event features the sale of purple T-shirts and jerseys, concessions, and half-time entertainment, all in support of cancer research at Van Andel Institute.

The color purple symbolizes cancer survivors. Every dollar raised goes directly to cancer research at Van Andel Institute. Donations will be accepted.

TIME: Boys: 6:00 pm; Girls: 7:30 pm

    Prance in your PJ's! - Saturday, December 11 - Get an early start on your holiday shopping this Saturday morning.  Gaslight Village shops are open at 8 a.m. and offering early-bird discounts, specials, and breakfast treats until 11 a.m.

    Shop with Pop! -  Sunday, December 12  -  A special afternoon for dads and kids to enjoy together!  Have fun in Gaslight Village, with crafts and treats offered in the charming shops.  Maybe you'll spy Santa or one of his elves handing out candy canes, a strolling magician or juggler.  If you're lucky, Mom has left you a wish-list for some of her favorite Gaslight shops...or your friendly, local shopkeepers will be ready with lots of suggestions and free gift-wrapping!

    Holiday Festivities Coming Up

    CHRISTMAS FESTIVITIES. The Gaslight Village Business Association will host two special opportunities for your family during the holiday season: Prance in your PJ's on Saturday, December 11th from 8:00 am to 11:00 am, and Shop With Pop on Sunday, December 12th from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. Both events feature special deals, family-friendly activities, and surprises.

    EGR High Ice Hockey Underway

    EAST GRAND RAPIDS - The East High Varsity ice hockey season is underway.  The Pioneers lost to Grand Rapids Catholic Central 8 - 3 Wednesday night at Griff's Ice House.  East next plays Saturday at 1:30 versus Rockford at L.C. Walker Arena in Muskegon
