Winter Parks and Recreation brochure released

East Grand Rapids, MI - The City of East Grand Rapids has released their official winter 2011 Parks and Recreation brochure which contains information on all recreational events and programs occurring throughout the East Grand Rapids area through May of 2011. Events include everything from dance classes to guitar lessons for residents of all ages.

Registration begins October 21 for residents and October 28 for non-residents.

Bridge Night

We'd love to have you join us for a fun, social night of Bridge! You are invited to our next Bridge Night, starting on Wednesdays, October 20-December 15 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the EGR Parks & Rec. Dept. Bridge players of all skill levels are invited to come, play and learn together. Playing cards and score cards will be provided.Cost is $32 for EGR residents and $42 for non-residents for the 8-week session (actv. # 25231-B) We need a minimum of 8 people to sign up by October 15 in order to offer Bridge Night.

Need more flexibility? 8 visit punch cards may also be purchased in advance. Punch cards can be used for other seasons of Bridge Night as well. Punch cards are $48.00 for residents and $56.00 for non-residents (actv. # 25231-C).

Kids' Night of the Stars - October 5th

East Grand Rapids , MI - Kids' Night of the Stars will take place Tuesday evening at Memorial Field. The run is for all EGR pre-k - 5th grade students. Check-in begins at 5:45 pm with the run beginning at 6:30 pm. Registration forms can be found at all school offices.

Taste of EGR Saturday

TASTE OF EAST GRAND RAPIDS. The Gaslight Village Business Association invites you to shop, dine, stroll and smile as area restaurants showcase their specialties on Saturday, October 2nd from 1:30 to 5:30 pm.

In addition to tasting the local fare, other Gaslight Village businesses will be open with special deals and a silent auction. The event is a benefit for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Tickets are $2 each and can be purchased at the event and exchanged for "tastes." Most tastes cost only 1 ticket.

There will also be a bounce tent for children and live music for all.

Everyone is invited to come out for great food, great shopping, and community spirit.

Homecoming Week Activities

EAST GRAND RAPIDS - A spirit assembly Thursday promises to pump up the high school students for this weekend's Homecoming.  Friday will feature a parade down Lake Drive, beginning at 4:30 PM, then the football game versus Greenville at 7, with the Homecoming Court featured at halftime.  A dance will be held at the Middle School Saturday night.

Daddy Daughter Dance

The annual Daddy Daughter Dance will be held in early February 2011.  Check back soon for 2011 event details!

Fathers, make sure your daughter's first dance is a memorable one! Put on your dancing shoes and enjoy a date night with your daughter at the annual Daddy Daughter Dance! Girls are invited to bring their favorite adult date (dad, grandpa, uncle or special friend) to this semi-formal event. The evening includes your daughter’s choice of corsage, DJ dancing, delicious refreshments, and more. Upon registration, you’ll also receive a coupon good for local restaurant discounts for the evening of the event. Sign up early and receive a $5.00 discount.
