Public Night at the Observatory

If you enjoy watching the night sky and would like to look at it up close & personal, this Public Night is for you!

Visitors are invited to the James C. Veen Observatory located at 3308 Kissing Rock Avenue SE in Lowell, Michigan on Saturday, October 28 from 8:00pm – 10:30pm. Featured objects will be the Quarter Moon, Uranus, Neptune and various galaxies. The evening temperatures will be in the 50’s, so you may want to wear warm clothes.

Keep in mind that the Observatory is located at the top of a hill. Visitors park below & walk up to the Observatory. Ask the parking attendant for assistance, if needed.

Admission: $3 for Adults, $2 for 17 years and younger, free to children 5 & under. Call the Starwatch number, (616)897-7065 for weather condition or sky updates.

The East Grand Rapids Parks & Recreation invite the community to visit local restaurants and retailers for an evening of food, shopping and fun!

This delightfully free opportunity taking place on Thursday, August 17 from 5:00pm – 9:00, offering families some fun shopping, kids activities, the chance to sample great eats, along with live musical entertainment. The action takes place on Wealthy Street between Crosswell and Lakeside Drive in East Grand Rapids.

The community is invited to FREE family-friendly entertainment for the month of August.

The children will enjoy the treat of the movie, Finding Dory, shown on the inflatable screen at dusk on Friday, August 11 on the shores of Reeds Lake. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets early to get the best seat on the lawn.

The KDL Teen Group will feature snacks for purchase to enjoy while the movie is playing, where proceeds will benefit the EGR Park & Recreation, along with KDL Teen Library Programs.

Mark your calendars for the last movie on September 15 that features 1993 Jurassic Park.

Movies in the Park Begin June 9

The Free family-friendly summer monthly entertainment of select movies begins this Friday evening!

The community is invited to enjoy the movie, Secret Life of Pets, shown on an inflatable movie screen on Friday, June 9 at dusk. Bring your lawn chairs or blanket early for a spot on the shores of Reeds Lake.

The KDL Teen Group will have snacks available for purchase to benefit EGR Parks & Recreation and Teen Library Programs.

Rock the Block Returns

Since 2011, this fun street fair gives the community the chance to celebrate the arts, local food and incredible local talent.

Spring, summer and fall, the Grand Rapids Amateur Astronomical Association invite the public out to see the skies close up!

Visitors are invited to the James C. Veen Observatory located at 3308 Kissing Rock Avenue SE in Lowell, Michigan from 9:30pm - 12:00am. This Saturday night, June 3 features Jupiter, the Gibbous Moon & star clusters.
