East GR approves streets and sidewalk millage
News

EAST GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - While Proposal 1 failed statewide, East Grand Rapids voters have approved a millage to improve its streets and sidewalks.

The proposal passed with 1,951 votes yes and 1,148 votes no. Turnout was estimated at about 35%.

The 10-year dedicated millage will raise $1.2 million each year. Since Proposal 1 failed, the city will collect 2.0 mills, which equals about $300 per year on a $300,000 home. If Proposal 1 would have passed, only 1.23 mills would have been collected.

We'll have reaction from East Grand Rapids' Mayor Amna Seibold on WZZM 13 News at 11pm.
