Refugee family pays it forward | News

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) --  A refugee family welcomed to West Michigan by their church, is now paying it forward.

Morteza and Geita Kordbacheh are members of the Genesis United Methodist Church. They fled Iran, living in Germany for several years. In 2003, they relocated to the United States with the help of their church.

Eight years later, the tables have turned, and the Kordbacheh's find themselves reaching out to another refugee family, originally from Iran. Linda Gary worked with the Kordbacheh family, along with other church members, to prepare their home for the new arrivals.

Friday night at, church members carried signs and balloons into Ford International Airport, to properly welcome the family. After a 10 hour layover in New York and a delay in Chicago, the Dadgar family arrived in Grand Rapids to the opened arms of the Kordbacheh's.

The Dadgar's will be staying in the Kordbacheh's  fully furnished home, rent free for six months.
