Here's an update on the summer's construction projects:

Bonnell Avenue-Lake Drive to Hall Street. Includes water main replacement, limited amounts of sanitary sewer replacement, new storm sewer construction from Lake to Darby, sidewalk and curb repairs and street restoration. The project is scheduled to begin on Monday July 30, 2012 and expected to be completed by mid October. Bonnell Avenue will be closed to all thru traffic during construction. Access will be maintained for local residences along the project.

Status: Completed to date is approximately half of the new water main extending from Lake Drive to Mary Avenue. This section of water main is currently undergoing testing before it can be placed into service. Once completed, the households along are connected to it before the old water main is disconnected. This process will require short periods of time when home owners will be without water. Notice will be provided to the effected homeowners beforehand.

Boston Street-Breton Road to the west city limits (near Laurel Avenue). Includes curb repair and street grinding and resurfacing. The project is scheduled to begin on Tuesday September 4, 2012 and is expected to be completed within approximately 3 weeks thereafter. Boston Street will be closed to all thru traffic during construction. A detour route will be established along Plymouth Road, Hall Street, and Breton Road. Access will be maintained for local residences along the project.

Status: Construction has not commenced yet.

Wealthy Street-Plymouth Road to Sherman Street. Includes placement of a "storm water separator" located within the intersection of Wealthy Street and Laurel Avenue. The separator removes roadway and parking lot trash as well as petroleum droppings from traffic and parked vehicles which enter an existing storm sewer that drains into Fisk Lake. The project also includes resurfacing Wealthy Street. The project is scheduled to begin approximately Thursday August 16, 2012 and is expected to be completed by the 1st of October. Wealthy Street will be closed to all thru traffic during construction. A detour route will be established along Plymouth Road, Lake Drive and Lovett Street. Access will be maintained for local residences along the project. Access to the hospital will be maintained via the Plymouth Road direction only.

Status: Construction will commence on Monday August 20th. The majority of the construction activity will take place at the Wealthy, Laurel and Sherman triangle. This portion of Wealthy Street will be closed to all traffic. Wealthy Street traffic will be maintained to the Blodgett Hospital entrance via the Plymouth Road direction and Wealthy School from the Lovett Road direction at all times during the project.

Reeds Lake Trail-Remington Park to El Centro Blvd. Includes resurfacing of trail from Remington Park to Reeds Lake Court and new trail construction along Reeds Lake Blvd. (south side) from Reeds Lake Court to just west of El Centro Blvd. The project is scheduled to begin Monday August 13, 2012 and is expected to be completed within approximately 3 weeks thereafter.

Status: This project began on Monday August 13th as planned. The trail extension base materials have been placed in readiness for asphalt paving. The Trail paving is scheduled for yet today or next week (August 20th). Included as a change order to this project is a short extension of the trail to a memorial being built in memory of the Schroeder family who donated the property to the City at the intersection of Reeds Lake Blvd. and Reeds Lake Court (opposite ElCentro Blvd. )
