Assessment Notices Coming

The Assessment Notices will be mailed by February 25, 2011. The Consumer Price Index for assessment purposes for the year 2011 is 1.7%. If there was not a transfer of ownership on your property in 2010, your 2011 Taxable Value is calculated by multiplying your 2010 Taxable Value by 1.017. Physical changes in your property may also increase or decrease your Taxable Value. If there was a transfer of ownership on your property in 2010, your 2011 Taxable Value will be the same as your 2011 State Equalized Value.

Te Assessor’s Review will be held on March 1st, 2nd and 3rd. March Board of Review Hearings will be held March 14th and 15th. You can call (616-940-4818) and make an appointment for either upon receipt of your Assessment Notice.

Property Taxes Due

The 2011 Winter Tax bills were mailed in December and are due on Monday, February 14, 2011. Payments can be dropped off at the front desk at City Hall during business hours, by using the 24-hour drop box located just inside the main entrance, or by mailing. If you choose to mail your payment, please plan ahead as we do not accept postmarks as the date paid--the payment must reach our offices by the due date.

The City does not accept credit card payments through our offices; however there is a service that accepts credit cards and forwards the payments to the City. There is a convenience fee assessed by the company for this service. Visit www.officialpayments.com for more information.
