My Town EGR: City to consider new fencing along Reeds Lake Trail

EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.—A fence meant to protect joggers from a steep drop-off along Reeds Lake Trail is expected to get an upgrade.

Parks and Recreation Department Director Fred Bunn is recommending the city replace 500 feet of wood fencing running along the embankment near Hodenpyl Rock. He says the current fence is in disrepair and several of the posts are unstable because of rotting wood or shifting soil.

Bunn believes the best replacement is a six-gauge black vinyl fence costing approximately $11,875.   City commissioners will review his fencing request during their next meeting Dec. 15 at 6 p.m.
