Curran Henessey’s Interviews

As many of you know, Curran Hennessey, a senior at East Grand Rapids, was recently televised because of his traumatic adventure while stuck on board an aircraft in the St. Louis Lambert International Airport.

Late Friday night, April 22, a tornado hit the airport. Curran, along with others, were stuck on an aircraft while the tornado hit. The wind of the storm was so powerful that debris from the runway flew everywhere, and cars were being tossed around like little toy cars.

After Curran’s experience upon the aircraft, he called CNBC to report his emotions about what had happened.

“I was flabbergasted at first and didn’t know what to do; this was definitely an adventure while the tornado hit. Afterwards, this experience was amusing to me.” Hennessey said.

Here in East Grand Rapids, snow days are a hot commodity. They generally occur no more than once or twice a year, if that.

CORRECTION: Daddy Daughter Dance NOT canceled

EAST GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - In light of the coming winter storm, all East Grand Rapids Public School events after 5:00 pm on Tuesday, February 1, have been canceled. This DOES NOT include the the Daddy Daughter Dance. It will go ahead as planned.

Bad Weather and Schools



As all Michigan residents know, inclement weather can certainly alter plans and schedules by closing schools and

businesses, and making travel a challenge.

If adverse weather conditions and other emergency situations make it necessary to cancel school, delay the

beginning of school, or send students home early, the following information details the East Grand Rapids Public

Schools procedures. Weather related data for closings or delays is collected by 5:00 a.m. from district staff

members. Based on the data collected, the superintendent then makes a decision regarding school closures or


Fall storms bring several school closings

East Grand Rapids, MI - Violent winds and rain are expected to reach the West Michigan area shortly but many schools, including East Grand Rapids Public, have already closed in anticipation of the foul weather.

Conditions similar to storms that struck the area in the fall of 1998 are expected to last through Wednesday evening with the heaviest winds occurring Wednesday afternoon.
