Mac Miller, prom with me?

In recent months, Caitlin Mabry ’13 made the bold decision to ask Mac Miller to this year’s prom. She created a video outlining her choice, and directed her question at the well-known rapper. It all began back in October when Mabry told her friends that she was going to take a sign to a Mac Miller concert, asking him to prom as a joke. It evolved into much more than that when everyone told her that she wouldn’t end up doing it, and Mabry wanted to prove people wrong.

She made the video in hopes that Miller would see it, and she would at least get an answer, no matter if it was a yes or a no. The simple video has grown into a full fledged attempt to get Miller’s attention.

Whether you are a teacher or a student, while at the high school, there’s a good chance you’ve heard certain words that seem to come from another planet, or make no sense at all. Now while you might never call your friend a dope face, it’s never a bad time to learn some new vocabulary.

Sweet - adj.

A measurement of how un-cool you really are, has nothing to do with candy or desserts, not as severe as being dope.
Ex: “You’re ordering that new album?! You’re so sweet!”
Trans: “So I heard you’re getting the new Nickleback album? You’re not cool in my book.”

Crispy – adj.

Finest quality, highest excellence of class
Ex: “Dude, check out that Mercedes. So crispy.”
Translation: “Woah, that’s a really expensive Mercedes!

Dope Face noun

School Bathrooms: A Travel Log

While the high school experience is defined by classes, sports, and social events, one part students forget to appreciate is our bathrooms. East Grand Rapids High School truly has exceptional bathrooms, but in this list, we rank them from the best of the best to the worst of the worst.

1. Mecca is the pinnacle of all bathrooms. The wonderful design, paired with unmatched cleanliness makes Mecca truly a religious experience. The largest glaring negative about Mecca is the location in the school. While the PAC may be relatively close to the main lobby, Mecca is a hike from most classes, making it difficult to enjoy during passing periods or during lunch.
